should be safe if you turn off valves first, use the proper sized wrench to loosen fittings at tank outlet (reverse thread turn clockwise to loosen) remove any hold down brackets and remove tanks.

I built this tank. It is made with 16 gauge sheet metal.
The sheet metal pieces are only tack welded in place. This is NOT a functioning gas tank. You weld it.
The tack welds could be cut if you wanted to weld from the inside, but I think it can all be welded from the outside. The filler neck and threaded outlet fittings are fully welded in place. Note: I do NOT guarantee any of my welds.
