Hey I just bought an 02 honda CBR 954RR and to transfer the title I need to have the engine number. Is there an easier way to get it the number than taking off the farings and looking on the engine? And...

Part #7 is pointing to a flat raised surface on the right side of the upper crankcase.
You shouldn't have to remove anything to view the numbers.

I am in the process of replacing my camchain. It was slapping so I bought a manual adjuster and that quietened it down but it didn't fix it. With the valve cover of and turning the motor over slowly (clockwise) by hand the exhaust cam 'kicks back' (anti-clockwise) and loses the tension that was on it. It looks like the chain is quite worn. 44000km's. My guess is that it is riding up the teeth on the crank sprocket, then snapping back into place.
