Carole and Jerry Ivy recall only sketchy details of the April 15 crash west of Llano in which they were thrown from their motorcycle.
But, their broken bodies, busted 2007 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic and battered helmets, boots and leather gear tell of a catastrophic event.
Not remembering the details is probably a good thing, said daughter Crystal Wasson.
"They don't remember hitting the ground," she said.
"I remember the bike starting to shimmy. I remember the moment the helicopter was taking off with me in it. Then at 9:30 p.m., I remember Crystal and her husband, Will, standing at the foot of my bed in the hospital," Jerry said.
Carole added, "I remember one of the guys saying, 'Don't move your head. Don't move your head. Jerry's OK. Take slow breaths.'"
The two were hospitalized for six days and treated by 10 specialists between them. Jerry has had five surgeries, and Carole three. He gets around in a wheelchair and has so many pins and plates throughout his body that Wasson calls him the Man of Steel.

I am interested in purchasing a trike, Gold Wing 1800. I am 72 years old and owned a Honda 400 SS back in 1976. I have wanted a trike ever since I saw one on the highway going to Newfoundland, Canada approximately 10 years ago, but haven't been able to convince my wife to allow me to get one. They are very scarce here in the Maritimes as we don't have the opportunity to ride much past the end of October and can't start usually around the middle of May.
I would like to know where I might get more information on the availability and the prices for an average prepared trike....
