How do I repair a Starter for a 2004 Yamaha Zuma Scooter 50cc?
Scooter Madness

My starter will not work it is not starting the scooter. Any information would be helpful.

Try the simplest thing first- check and/or replace the battery. Most motorcycle batteries are only good for 2-3 years.

They're not the biggest, not the baddest. Not the noisiest, not the fastest. But when the Mild Hogs hit the road, they get plenty of attention.

"People turn their heads," said John Wisniewski.

Also known as the La Crosse Scooter Club, this gang of 22 was started by Wisniewski in 2009 with just two people. On Saturday morning, about a dozen members met up at Riverside Park for a short and slightly rainy ride while honking their high-pitched horns.

Most have been driving scooters for only a few years, prompted by the rising cost of gas.

Wisniewski used to drive a Honda Hawk motorcycle. Now, he drives a black Yamaha Zuma complete with orange flames. It takes him about $4.25 to fill up - enough to get him 120 miles.

"They're easy and fun to drive," Wisniewski said.

Joy Benson, a computer programmer, was the second Mild Hog. She drives a Yamaha Vino that can reach 50 miles per hour. It takes her between 20 and 30 minutes to travel the 13 miles to work.

New 2012 Yamaha Zuma 50F Four-Stroke Scooter Unveiled | Motorcycle ...

Cypress, California, June 8, 2011 – The all-new 2012 Zuma 50F is a tough, yet sporty 49cc scooter that makes going places fun, even commuting to work or school. It features a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-stroke engine that is powerful, quiet, and low-maintenance. Sharp new styling and twin headlights on this new model update the original “‘tough, off-road” image of the Zuma, while fat tires give that “go anywhere” look. In addition, the Zuma 50F achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 132 mpg*.

Electronic fuel injection provides smooth, seamless power and nearly instantaneous starts while the fully automatic V-belt transmission provides easy, twist-the-throttle-and-go operation. The pushbutton electric starting gives ultimate ease of operation and the air-induction system and exhaust catalyst technology reduce air pollution. The large-gauge steel pipe frame offers strength and rigidity and the 1.2-gallon fuel tank positioned low in the center tunnel provides centralized mass and extra convenience – the tank can be refueled without opening the seat, unlike many scooters. The stepped seat allows for an open and roomy ride for two, along with lots of locking storage underneath and added conveniences like an inner pocket and fold-out hook....

Yamaha Zuma 125 Scooter » tgif: let's RV

It has been a long winding road to the purchase of my 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter. Last winter I took my mid 80's vintage Suzuki FA50 moped with me to Arizona. While I was great to use to get around the immediate area I was in, I found it had a number of short comings. The top speed of 27 MPH made driving on most roads hazardous and the skinny tires weren't the best on dirt roads much less loose sand. I knew I needed something more for my next trip.

Once I got back from AZ I started investigating scooters to find one that would be light weight, fast enough to keep up with secondary road traffic and be comfortable to ride on dirt roads. I also wanted a major brand since I would be using it on the road and wanted to be able to find parts or repair shops in case I needed it. While the price is attractive on the numerous Chinese scooters on the market I limited myself to Honda or Yamaha. For me their known quality and nationwide parts and service easily offset their higher prices.
