Mini Bike Tragedy
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the preschooler was riding what a Medina County Sheriff's spokesperson called a "motorcycle with training wheels." She was on the pee-wee track at Apple Cabin on Lafayette Road in Lodi. The aforementioned father describes the track as very basic and well marked with no ruts.
Witnesses, however, say that one of the 4-year-old's training wheels got hung up on a tire marking the edge of the track.
The girl was transported to Lodi Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The father with whom Fox 8 News talked says he has been taking his children to Apple Cabin for years, and he has never seen anything like this.
"It was heart-wrenching. It still brings tears right now, especially that it happened to a child this young," the man, who did not want to be identified, said. "It made me sit there and think about my own children. Do I want to let them continue to ride or not?
